Namibia is a very popular travel destination for a lot of tourists. They come here to enjoy our wide open spaces, pristine nature and the abundance of animals, of course. Some even come here to get married, just like Julia and Mechy, whose wedding I had the honor to shoot here in Swakopmund. Julia is from Germany and Mechy is a Congolese. They got to know each other working for Coca Cola at the marketing for the Soccer World Cup in South Africa in 2010. What a story! Their wedding ceremony was taking place at the stlyish Swakopmund Guesthouse and they had booked to complete wedding arrangement via hochzeit-auf-reisen.com, an agency in Germany that specializes in destination weddings. Destination weddings in Namibia are one of their main focuses.
After the papers were signed (I actually served as a witness, too, because they had come without any family) there was a lovely ceremony at the beach, next to the jetty. The funny thing about that was that a Belgian TV-Team was just filming a documentary about Namibia and they were asking if they may film the wedding as well. This way Julia and Mechy will soon be on Belgian TV as well 🙂
Following the romantic ceremony at the beach we had a light lunch at Village Café (which is actually my favorite café in Swakopmund), and we used the opportunity to take some pictures in the lovely surroundings there before we took more portrait photos in the ancient dunes of the Namib Desert and at the sea just before sunset. Well, enough of words – have a look at this stunning couples pictures!
